Prof.dr. Ecaterina Matei is currently a professor at the POLITEHNICA University in Bucharest, Romania with an important professional experience in R&D, regarding: controlled synthesis of nanostructured materials used for water treatment and soil depollution, evaluation of environmental components (water, soil) and waste, including leachates, through advanced analytical techniques, studies on micro and nanostructured surface chemistry of materials applied asĀ  support for wastewater treatment processes, uncertainty estimation of the results measurements.

She is PhD supervisor since 2018 in Environmental Engineering with 4 doctoral theses finalized so far. She graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Bucharest and she has a Materials Science Ph. D. from 2005, at the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, POLITEHNICA Bucharest. Since 2008, she is Head of Environmental Laboratory accredited according to SR EN ISO 17025/2005.

She has published over 120 scientific papers in refereed international journals, 8 books and book chapters, 8 patents, Hirsch Index =18 (Scopus) and H=20 (Google Scholar). She has been involved as coordinator/project manager and member in 52 research projects funded by European and national agencies and industry contracts.

At ICEEM13 Prof.dr. Matei will have a keynote lecture in the field of waste management in the context of circular (bio)economy titled:
